Here at RDM, we pride ourselves on recruiting, hiring, and training the next generation of MultiValue developers. We sat down with one of our newer team members, Jennifer Goff, to learn about her journey to becoming an RDM programmer — and what she’s discovered about MultiValue software along the way.

Tell us a bit about your background.

This is my first software job right out of college. I got my bachelor’s degree in software development from Western Governors University, then applied for a job at RDM Infinity. It’s been a really fun challenge, and I’m loving it so far.

What did you know about MultiValue software before working at RDM?

MultiValue software was totally new to me. I had some experience with relational databases, so it wasn’t completely out of left field — but there’s definitely been a learning curve. It’s worth it, though. The more I learn, the more I’m able to help customers. And I know that having this experience under my belt will generate a lot of opportunities for me in the future.

What does RDM’s MultiValue training program look like?

The training program is very practical and hands-on, which is super-helpful. I really think that’s the best way to learn. We worked with mock data sets so we could get plenty of practice before we ever touched any of our customers’ code. There’s a big team of developers here — from industry veterans to younger developers like me — so there’s always someone available to answer questions. It’s such a supportive environment for learning something new.

What do you like about working with MultiValue software?

The backend is incredibly fast. If you have a huge amount of data that you need to access as quickly as possible, then MultiValue is your best bet for making that happen. Then on the frontend, there’s a lot of flexibility to make everything look very sleek and modern. If you take full advantage of that flexibility, then end-users will look at your system and see something that looks totally fresh and new — even if you have an older ERP.

What do you like about working at RDM?

Three things come to mind:

  1. The people! I just love this team.
  2. I really enjoy helping our customers solve problems. Working closely with a business to write custom code that will address their unique challenges — that’s so satisfying.
  3. Being a programmer is the best. I always have fun when I’m writing code.
