The top 3 myths about MultiValue software

By John Bramley

Having been involved with MultiValue since the early ‘80s, I’ve spent a lot of time talking to customers about the value of their MultiValue software. In one conversation after another, I hear: “MultiValue is too old.” Or “Nobody supports it.” Or “We can’t find programmers who know how to work with it.”

Here’s how I respond.

Myth #1: MultiValue software is too old.

Yes, MultiValue software has been around for decades, but it continues to be developed and supported by Rocket Software.

In most cases, the customer’s MuitiValue application is unique to their business and still a valuable asset, but I hear from customers, “Our system looks old and it’s hard to get new employees to learn how to use it.”

That’s where modernization comes in. “Modernization” can mean different things to different people. But when RDM talks about modernization, we’re talking about making an older system look and feel new — with no need to replace your MultiValue application.

Here’s the bottom line: no matter how old these systems may look, they’re incredibly powerful and they get more powerful every day. And if “old” is the problem, we can solve that. Our team knows how to make a MultiValue system intuitive and user-friendly.

Myth #2: There aren’t any developers who can work with MultiValue software.

A lot of people believe that it’s difficult to find younger MultiValue developers, but RDM is a perfect example of how that simply isn’t true.

Our team is made up of seasoned and young developers, allowing us to approach modernization with a combination of fresh ideas and proven know-how. Unlike many companies, we don’t outsource any of our work. We’ve trained our younger developers in-house using our own curriculum. We pair them with veteran developers, and we get them really excited about MultiValue technology.

That’s not just good for RDM — it’s good for the industry at large. And going forward, we’re committed to developing and growing our MultiValue talent pool so you’ll always have the resources you need to achieve your operational goals.

Myth #3: Nobody supports MultiValue software.

Here’s one of the things I hear most often: “Our IT department doesn’t understand MultiValue. It’s sort of a black box in the corner.”

Getting the most out of your MultiValue system is all about working with the right partner. Maybe you’ve tried to do everything in-house, but you keep running into resistance from your internal teams. Or your MultiValue partner is no longer there to support your application. Or you’ve turned to another company in the past, but you’ve been burned by a bad experience.

It doesn’t have to be that way. Here at RDM, we know MultiValue. We have a large and growing MultiValue engineering team, and we would love to be your partner in modernizing your MultiValue system to meet your current and future needs.

Are you ready to get more value out of your MultiValue system?

Let’s talk. We’d love to show you how RDM Infinity can unleash the full potential of your MultiValue system.
